Need For Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed عنوانی از سری NFS است که به عنوان هفدهمین نسخه از این فرانچیز عظیم شناخته می شود. این بازی به وسیله Slightly Mad Studios ساخته شده است و توسط Electronic Arts انتشار یافته است. گفتنی است که این بازی شبیه ساز رانندگی بوده، و به دنبال نسخه اول (که در سال ۲۰۰۹ انتشار یافت) مراحل ساخت را طی می کند. همچنین ، این نسخه از سیستم Autolog نیز بهره می برد که پیش از این در NFS: Hot Pursuit آن را مشاهده کردیم. راندن یک اتومبیل ، آن هم در سرعت بالا میتواند بسیار جالب و سرگرم کننده باشد ، همان هدفی که بسیاری از بازیهای این سبک از جمله Gran Turismo 5 و Forza Motorsport 3 موفق به تحقق آن شدند، اما در این بین چیز دیگری فراموش شده و یا کمتر به آن اهمیت داده می شود، رانندگی در سرعت بالا علاوه بر جذابیت، می تواند وحشتناک باشد.
در این نسخه به سبب فیلمبرداری از داخل کابین اتومبیل ها و این که هرچه سرعت ماشین افزایش پیدا می کند تصاویر رو به رویی کمی مات می شود هیجان بازی بیشتر و بیشتر خواهد شد. پیست ها به جای خیابان های شهری پذیرای کاربرانی هستند که قصد دارند تا نیاز به سرعت 17 را در قالب Shift 2 تجربه کنند. 4 قالب مدل اتومبیل که هریک را کاربر بسته به نیاز در طول بازی انتخاب می کند هم از نکات جالب توجه در انجام این بازی به شمار می رود. گروه ماشین های قدیمی یا Retro ، گروه ماشین های با بدنه ی محکم یا Muscle و دو گروه با نام های Legend و Super car ، 4گروهی هستند که کاربر ده ها خودروی موجود را بسته به نیاز از میان این 4 گروه انتخاب می کند. البته مراحل شخصی سازی یا همان Customize خودروها هم در این بازی گنجانده شده تا کاربران بیشتر احساس مالکیت خودروها را داشته باشند. نکته پایانی هم اضافه شدن Autolog در این نسخه از بازی ست که پیش از این در مدل قبلی نیاز به سرعت یعنی Hot Pursuit با آن سروکار داشته ایم.
Shift 2: Unleashed career mode is called "entertaining and interactive".Shift 2 claims to redefine the racing simulator genre by delivering authentic and true-to-life dynamic crash physics, intricately detailed real-world cars, drivers and tracks.During their careers, virtual racers partake in a variety of motorsports — like drifting, muscle car racing, retro car racing, Endurance races and circuit competition (i.e. FIA GT3 European Championship) — to hone their driving skills in hopes of becoming the FIA GT1 world champion.As well as an in-car camera view, Shift 2 includes a 'helmet-camera' in which the player's viewpoint is from their driver. The helmet cam moves with the head of the driver, being drawn from side to side as the car takes corners and jerking forward when the player crashes. As the car comes up to higher speeds, the edges of the screen will become blurred to simulate the tunnel-vision effect that drivers suffer when racing.Shift 2's night racing also appears to be more advanced, with headlights dimming or turning off completely if damaged, further narrowing the player's view.
The Autolog system is now 'Need for Speed DNA'. The system appears in Shift 2 in a more-or-less identical design to the original, but will include extra features that will not only provide track times for unique events, but also segregate data based on quick race tracks, race types and automotive disciplines. This essentially means that Autolog will be more than just a system that simply displays your friend’s times regardless of how, or when, they set them during their career.
Shift 2 features more than 140 licensed vehicles available for racing and tuning, a smaller number compared with racing sims such as Forza Motorsport 4 and Gran Turismo 5. However, executive producer Marcus Nilsson said the studio wanted to concentrate on having only the must-have speedsters.There are also 40 real-world locations including Bathurst, Spa-Francorchamps and Suzuka as well as fictional circuits like downtown London and Shanghai.
